Spoopy October Times Episode 2: Vampire Hunter D (1985)
Monday Oct 10, 2016
Monday Oct 10, 2016
For this spooky edition of Love and Justice, we're going back to before most of us were born and reviewing the cult classic 1985 film Vampire Hunter D. It's the reason Emma got into anime! It's the reason Sam never got into anime (until he was an adult and realized he was wrong)! Prepare thyselves for in-depth discussions re: the science behind vampire reproduction, and lots of love for weirdly beautiful animated depictions of entrails and that sweet, sweet, 80s synth score.

Spoopy October Times Episode 1: Chibiusa's Picture Diary #1
Tuesday Oct 04, 2016
Tuesday Oct 04, 2016
Welcome to the first of many spoopy October editions of Love and Justice! For our first episode we're discussing Chibiusa's Picture Diary #1 - Beware the Transfer Student & Chibiusa's Adventure: The Dreaded Vampire Castle the animated short that's based on it (which is very bizarrely titled as there is no castle in it). The basic premise is there's a vampire girl in Chibiusa's fourth grade class, except in the animated version she's actually just a girl who's been possessed by a Dream Lemures, who's luring young boys back to her house and sucking their blood dry. That's about it. She also eats flowers which is weird. But Sailor V shows up in the manga version, so that'd kinda cool.

Magical Deviations: Cute High Earth Defense Club Love Season 2 Part 2
Monday Sep 26, 2016
Monday Sep 26, 2016
We have come to the conclusion of another beautiful season of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love (this time called Cute High Earth Defense Club Love LOVE) and so it's time for our end of season recap! We ponder the exact nature of relationship between Gora and the stork (is it a mentee-mentor thing? Is the stork secretly an evil reality show producer?), can't get enough of those Vepper twins (though we all agree we wish they'd been a bit better at being evil), and STILL have no idea what the name of the student council vice president is.

Best of Filler: Episode 92 a.k.a. Lesbian Racecar Daimon
Monday Sep 19, 2016
Monday Sep 19, 2016
It's another fun-filled filler episode of Love and Justice! This time we're talking about episode 92 of the 90s anime which features everyone's favorite Daimon "Steering" who looks like she was drawn by Rob Liefeld (we mean that lovingly) and was almost certainly the inspiration for the conclusion of the film Adolescence of Utena. We have some serious discussions re: the logistics of Haruka and Michiru entering in flourish of sakura petals, marvel at Haruka's ability to defy video game logistics, and are extremely concerned about what happened to the car-turned-Daimon once it returned to its original state and was seemingly abandoned in the middle of the L.A. River at the end of the episode.

Love and Justice strikes again with another Musical Moonday!! This time it's the very Sera Myu, Sera Myu: Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen, and we're happy to report it's WAY better than that Dracula Musical. First of all, it's only about an hour and fifteen minutes. Secondly, characters actually exit the stage. Thirdly, it contains pretty much the closest thing we'll ever get to the deadly Shitennou/Inner Senshi showdown of Emma's dreams. Unfortunately Luna and Artemis are in it, played by adults in uncomfortably sexy-but-mostly-bizarre cat costumes, and the size of the Shitennou's epaulettes in a Silver Millennium flashback are actually offensive.

Magical Girls & The Journey to Salt Lake Comic Con
Monday Aug 29, 2016
Monday Aug 29, 2016
It's that time again: we're hitting the road and heading to the Great Salt Lake for some convention times in Lola's homeland. Emma and Kelby hit the trail to Houston TX after that, but not before we educate the population of Utah (and, frankly, ourselves to some extent) on the rich history of the magical girl genre.

Magical Deviations: Cute High Earth Defense Club Love! LOVE Mid-Season Recap
Tuesday Aug 23, 2016
Tuesday Aug 23, 2016
It's the episode at least 1/3rd of you have been waiting for! Our mid-season review of Cute High Earth Defense Club Season 2! Be warned: This obviously contains spoilers for episodes 1-7, so if you're not caught up, proceed with caution. Adam Ferry (@damjerry) and Sam McLellan (@TheSpiderSam) are along for the ride as usual. Join us on a downward spiral into the depths of "is this sexual innuendo or actual science?". We certainly don't know. What we do know is, we love this show and the fact that this season contains almost enough butts to make even Tina Belcher happy.

House Party: My Love Story!!
Tuesday Aug 16, 2016
Tuesday Aug 16, 2016
The McClellans are at it again with another House Party Special! This time they cover My Love Story!! A sweet anime about young love and friendship. They also cover the toxic tropes of American teen romance stories and how there should be more shows like this one to help guide the youth through the chaos that is "young love." P.S. Please let it be known, Sam totes cried.

House Party: Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun
Tuesday Aug 09, 2016
Tuesday Aug 09, 2016
We're back with another House Party edition of Love and Justice! This time it's all about Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. Kelby and Sam talk about this fun slice-of-life anime, its characters, and how it pokes at gender roles in an entertaining way. Sam also tells us about which parts of the show gave him the feels and finally admits to being weeaboo trash like the rest of us.
