Sailor Drag Race, A Fancasting Bonanza
Monday Jan 02, 2017
Monday Jan 02, 2017
Welcome to the first episode of 2017! We are ready to show this new year who's boss! Today we are fancasting everyone's favorite sailor guardians as the queens of Logo's RuPaul's Drag Race. (Available on Hulu and AmazonPrime, woohoo!) We are joined by special guest and drag queen enthusiast, Robert Edward, as well as frequent collaborator, Sam McClellan. Full disclaimer: Lola has never seen an episode of Drag Race but makes a valiant effort pulling from the cast of Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmore. We also discuss the impact of drag queens and Sailor Moon on expressions of femininity and try to fit in as many DPM's (that's "Draculas per minute") as we can.

2016 Christmas Special! Sailor Moon Super S: Christmas for You & More!
Tuesday Dec 20, 2016
Tuesday Dec 20, 2016
Happy Holidays from all of us at Love and Justice! We're discussing the first of two (albeit, almost identical) Sailor Moon Christmas albums, Sailor Moon Super S: Christmas for You. We have no idea why it exists. It's literally just the seiyuu of the Inner Senshi, collectively called "Peach Hips" singing very unoriginal covers of Christmas songs your grandma knows. But they're all pretty good singers. We also talk about other Sailor Moon related topics and generally express our thanks to you, our wonderful listeners, for making what has been objectively a pretty tough year, really rather wonderful.

Pretty Guardian Plot Deviations: Kirari Super Live
Tuesday Dec 13, 2016
Tuesday Dec 13, 2016
You know that we here at Love and Justice love our Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. This week we're covering the live performance entitled "Kirari Super Live" (roughly, Glittering/Sparkling Super Live) which was rehearsed and performed literally in the midst of taping the 2003-2004 series. We enjoy this WAY more than we've any right to. There's virtually no plot. The Sailor Senshi lip sync all of their songs. We're not even sure the Shitennou actually want to be there (okay, Zoisite almost definitely doesn't want to be there). But legitimately? If you're a fan of PGSM, we recommend watching this. If only to witness Jadeite and Nephrite's ad-libbed interaction with the very, very young audience.

Musical Moondays: Amour Eternal, or We Want the Old Doctor Back
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
Tuesday Dec 06, 2016
Thanks to the fabulous folks at missdream.org, we've finally got some fresh Sailor Moon content to discuss: the latest installment in the fabulous new Sera Myu series, Amour Eternal! Though we're not all in total agreement, we find it to be slightly less spectacular than its predecessors, partially due to the change of cast, particularly in the case of Sailor Moon herself. But we do enjoy many of the new songs, the beautifully, confidently queer and fabulous Amazon Trio, and the precious cinnamon roll that is Helios.

Best of Filler: Episode 95 a.k.a. Skeletor, but also your Dad
Monday Nov 28, 2016
Monday Nov 28, 2016
Keepin' it classic once again this week and delving into the magical world of the Sailor Moon 90s anime series (available to watch, uncut, in its entirely on Hulu - yay!). We're covering episode 95 – specifically the original Japanese version, and the often lamented Cloverway dub first seen on Toonami on June 19, 2000. This is the episode wherein the relationship between Uranus and Neptune in the dub was infamously branded "Cousins". Surprsingly, other than that, very little is different between the two versions and Cloverway, again schockingly, actually improved upon some of the moments we had problems with in the original Japanese version.

Fall Favorites: Yuri!!! on Ice w/Xander Jeanneret
Monday Nov 14, 2016
Monday Nov 14, 2016
One of our favorite (and now officially verified on Twitter!) guest hosts, Xander Jeanneret (@Xanderrific), returns to discuss our favorite new fall anime Yuri!!! on Ice. This show has brought so much joy into our lives in the short amount of time that it's been airing that we decided we just really really needed to talk about it. Especially in a time when we could all use a little joy in our lives. It's weirdly relatable for a series that is technically about something with which all of us are unfamiliar: professional figure skating. If you guys haven't watched it yet, we highly recommend you do. We're certain it will make you as happy as it makes us.

More for your Manga: Casablanca Memory (and PGSM Episode 8)
Tuesday Nov 08, 2016
Tuesday Nov 08, 2016
On this episode, which is oddly appropriate for Election Day, we discuss the Sailor Moon manga special act Casablanca Memory as well as episode 8 of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, both of which focus on Rei's relationship with her politician father. We go pretty deep into themes of not-so-great parental figures and unrequited love, but ultimately come out on top in a tale that emphasizes the value of the bonds of friendship. We're also as convinced as ever that PGSM only had one filming location that they attempted to disguise as many locations through the power of camera angles.

Halloween Special : Sera Myu - Kessen Transylvania no Mori Kaiteiban
Monday Oct 31, 2016
Monday Oct 31, 2016
Happy Halloween Sailor Moon fans! We're continuing the tradition of Dracula themed Myus and tackling Sera Myu: Kessen Transylvania no Mori Kaiteiban, which is the winter 2001 revision of the summer 2000 musical of roughly the same time (minus the "Kaiteiban" part. Spoilers: We hate it, but we sure did have fun drinking about, and many thanks to those of you that did the same. We did like that one Spice Girls number that the outers sang. And pretty much everything about Sailor Mars and Sailor Mercury except for the fact that they were in this show.

Spoopy October Times Episode 4: Death Note The Musical
Tuesday Oct 25, 2016
Tuesday Oct 25, 2016
Well we've been referencing it for a solid year now, so we thought it was high time we dedicated an episode to American Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn's masterpiece Death Note: The Musical. Don't worry, if you don't like Death Note (Kelby doesn't) you still might like A) this version of it and B) this episode of the podcast. We're joined once again by Megan Salinas, who introduced us to this gem in the first place. Warning: musical theatre deep cuts, poorly researched facts, and un-ironic love abound as we gush about the original concept album, Japanese and Korean versions of what we feel to be a concise retelling of Death Note that mercifully ends where we all know original story should have.

Spoopy October Times Episode 3: Little Witch Academia The Enchanted Parade
Tuesday Oct 18, 2016
Tuesday Oct 18, 2016
We take a break from vampires this week (don't worry, they'll be back for our actual Halloween Special) to talk about another Halloween staple – witches! Specifically, Little Witch Academia The Enchanted Parade which is a sequel to the original animated short Little Witch Academia, but if you haven't seen the first one, you won't be terribly confused. Harry Potter references abound as we gush over this absolutely adorable film, it's painfully oblivious yet determined heroine, and come to realize exactly what about this story makes it the exact kind of anime that Sam likes most.
